Douglas Service Center For All Your Repair Needs

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Here at Douglas Allergy Relief we stand behind every product we sell, and not just while it’s still in our store. When you get your vacuum cleaner or dehumidifier home it is still a part of the extended Douglas family, and if you ever experience any malfunction you can bring it to us for a friendly and efficient vacuum repair or dehumidifier repair.

The Douglas Service Center is a full service repair shop that is well versed in every single product that Douglas sells. Our service technicians are trained by the manufacturers of our products and use only official, name brand parts in the process of their repairs. If your Electrolux vacuum cleaner becomes stubborn and refuses to turn on one day, bring it to Douglas for professional vacuum repair. Not only will we fix it so that it’s as good as new, we’ll give you a loaner vacuum cleaner in the meantime so the allergen-carrying dust in your home won’t have time to get out of control.

Douglas understands how important our products are to you and your quest to reduce allergens. We know that when we sell you a dehumidifier we’re helping reduce the presence of mold spores in your home and that helps you and your family breathe easier. That is one of the reasons we provide you with a replacement unit until your dehumidifier repair is complete: we know that your quality of life is not as good when you’re not breathing comfortably in your own home.

We’re always thinking of you at Douglas. That’s why we try to truly be your one stop shop not only for allergy-reducing products, but for any kind of maintenance that you may require once you get those products home. It’s all part of the Douglas experience. Browse our product selection online or stop into our store in Highland Park.

If you so choose (and we highly recommend it!), any order that you place with Douglas Allergy Relief will be unpacked, assembled, and tested by us, before we send the product on its happy way to you. Our dedication to service allows us to make sure that your allergy relief product is performing in tip-top shape before you receive it.

Yet, sometimes even after you receive an item that works perfectly, it may still have a quirk that needs to be worked out later on, or a part that needs to be replaced. You know not to worry, though, because you made your purchase from Douglas Allergy Relief, and with that purchase comes the support of the Douglas Allergy Relief Service Center. Our service center provides repair work for every product our company sells and is an authorized warranty center for over 25 brands.

If you are wondering if your vacuum, dehumidifier, or other item needs a check-up, the highly trained technicians at the Douglas Allergy Relief Service Center are ready and able to help. But, before sending us your dehumidifier or vacuum, we’d like to share some common issues that can be easily fixed at home:

Problem: Dehumidifier fills up to quickly.

Solution: If the container fills up quickly, your dehumidifier is doing exactly what its supposed to do. But, if the container is filling up too quickly, many days in a row, you might want to locate the source of the humidity (an unsealed window?), and see if you if you can correct the problem at the source.

Problem: Vacuum no longer picks up dirt.

Solution: A common vacuum problem is clogging. If the unit no longer picks up dirt and dust, chances are it is clogged. This is normally not a parts problem. To fix it, take the front assembly off, then clean out all agitators and the housing where the dirt makes its way upwards through the unit.  This is easy to do, and won’t take a great deal of time.

Still think your allergy relief product’s problem is a bit more complex? We’re ready for the challenge. Contact the Douglas Allergy Relief Service Center today!

Household Allergies? You May Need A Dehumidifier.

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

We all know about outdoor allergies that keep us inside when we’d like to be outside enjoying the warm weather. As beautiful as blooming flowers are, they make a whole lot of people shut the windows and reach for the tissues. But did you know that indoor allergies can be just as bad?

During the summer months when the humidity rises, the air in your house retains moisture, and this moist air is the perfect breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria that can grow dangerous mold. These allergens can be especially hazardous for people with asthma. Basements and crawl spaces are particularly susceptible to high humidity because they are underground and absorb moisture from the earth. By reducing the humidity level in these spaces and throughout your home, you can reduce your risk for household allergies.

Dehumidifiers are the most effective tools for lowering the humidity in your house. They literally suck the moisture from the air and turn it back into liquid- you won’t believe the amount of water that comes out of the air you’re breathing. When humidity levels dip under 50% most dust mites die and mold spores either die or become inactive, leaving you free to breathe easy. Aside from just reducing allergens, dehumidifiers also make the air in your home much more comfortable, especially if you don’t have an air conditioner. And if you’ve experienced 85 degrees with low humidity compared to 85 degrees with 70% humidity, you know the difference is palpable!

Douglas is committed to helping you reduce your allergies and increase your comfort level, which is why we offer a range of dehumidifiers and accessories designed to fit your needs. We have smaller, efficient crawlspace models and higher capacity models for entire rooms. We also carry humidity meters so you can accurately monitor the humidity levels in your home.

So banish household allergens with a dehumidifier from Douglas. Browse our convenient online store or come visit us in person at 332 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. You’ll be glad you did.
